After careful deliberation, the NAIA has chosen to cancel all of its winter championship events, including the women’s basketball tournament, amid growing concerns over the coronavirus.

While we are disappointed for the teams, coaches, fans and the Billings community, we fully understand that health and safety are top priorities at stake.

Finally, we want to thank the overwhelming number of sponsors, volunteers and businesses for their support of the tournament. You have made our community proud.

SCHEELS Youth Impact Day

Sponsored by:SCHEELS

Back by popular demand (and many thanks to SCHEELS), Friday, March 20th SCHEELS will present 2020 Youth Impact Day during the Visit Billings NAIA DI Women’s Basketball National Championship. This day will be dedicated to hosting as many students from southeast and south-central Montana school districts as possible.

With hundreds of amazing competitors gathered together to celebrate their sport and compete at the highest level, SCHEELS Youth Impact Day allows these inspirational athletes to touch the lives of hundreds of regional students as they work toward the 2020 Championship Title game.

The NAIA Tournament Committee invites regional school districts to get involved by attending any days of the tournament, but on Friday, March 20th, SCHEELS looks to inspire area school officials to dedicate time to be sure students have the chance to witness this caliber of competition and sportsmanship only seen in Montana during this national championship event.

The student athletes of the NAIA leave their hearts and souls on the court. Contact Colleen Sullivan at to learn more about SCHEELS Youth Impact Day.

The NAIA Tournament Committee, Visit Billings, and the Billings Chamber appreciates SCHEELS commitment to the Visit Billings NAIA Championship event and programs.

Champions of Character 2020

NAIA Champions of Character

Sponsored by:

Tire-Rama - Cooper Tires

Cooper Tires and Tire-Rama are proud to sponsor this year’s Champions of Character program.

The vision of National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Champions of CharacterTM program is to change the culture of sport. Its mission is to provide training to instill the values that build character so students, coaches and parents know, do and value the right thing on and off the court. Research shows that the longer a student spends in sports, their social reasoning – sacrificing for the good of the team – rises.

The Champions of Character program helps participants find the balance by keeping five core values – integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship, and servant leadership – at the heart of the athletics experience.

The 32 teams that will compete in Billings March 18-24 will be working with local youth as part of this program. All 32 teams travel to 32 area and regional schools to help commicate the key message of the NAIA’s CoC program to young students.

For more information contact Kelly McCandless at This is an incredible program.
